Well I've had my Keurig B66 for three months now and I hate the damn thing. Not only is it effortless to use but I've had some pretty good cups of coffee. I'm finding that I'm drinking more coffee than I ever did, because it's so easy and convenient.
I'm not very professional about describing what I'm tasting eg. acidity but I know what I like and dislike so here are some random thoughts on what I've tried so far.
I've placed an order with RMC that carries Green Mountain so I'll be able to comment on those. Newman's Own sp. blend ext. bold was in the samplier pkg. I received with my machine. My brother drank it and it's his favourite so I ordered a box of that.
I like both med. and dark roast coffees but I probably lean more to the dark roasts in the afternoon with an occasional flavoured coffee at times.
Med. roasts are usually my first cup in the am, and an occasional de-caf late at night. My favourite company so far is Van Houtte but that could change.
Ratings
**** outstanding, *** decent, will order from time to time, ** fair
* No
Caribou
*** Caribou Blend - pleasant rich cup suitable for morning. Could detect slight chocolate notes and slight bitterness at the end. Thankyou Josh for this sample.
**** Mahogany - very rich and smooth with no hints of bitterness. As it cooled I could detect notes of choclate and an underlying hint of sweetness. Outstanding cup, one I would buy frequently.
Coffee People
*** Black Tiger - smokey and non-descript while hot. Char notes came to the forefront as it cooled. Not as enjoyable as their Wake-up Call but still decent. I drank this one with cream added. Would buy this in a variety box.
*** French Roast - nice toast dark roast with char at the first few sips. Hint of spice but less sweet than other French Roasts that I've tried. Hints of dark toffee noted. More intense than Tully's and not as sweet. Rates a high three almost 4 stars. Would definitely buy a box of this.
** Jet Fuel - strong with char notes as it cools. Left a bitter aftertaste in my mouth. Enjoy other dark roasts over this.
**** Organic - was included in the samplier pack. This is a nice smooth cup of coffee, one I would order again.
**** Tree Hugger FTO - outstanding medium roast that's smooth and balanced. No bitterness here. I could detect chocolate notes in the aftertaste and a slight sweetness that seemed to come and go while I was drinking this. Cream seemed to bring out the sweetness. I would definitely buy another box of this in the future.
*** Wake-up Call - nice rich bold coffee that developed char notes as it cooled. Dark chocolate detected in the aftertaste. Close to a 4 star for me. Would definitely buy a box of this in the future.
Diedrich
** Paradiso House - dark roast with an unpleasant bite at the end. Better with cream added. Thankyou Josh for the sample.
Gloria Jeans
**** Black Gold - smoky and intense in flavour. Cream doesn't change the character of the coffee much. Outstanding K-cup. Thankyou Josh for this sample.
* Hazelnut - didn't care for this one at all. Too weak. Was included in samplier pack.
Green Mountain
**** Double Black Diamond - nice smooth flavour. No hint of bitterness. Will order this one again.
*** Dark Magic Extra Bold - strong and smooth with expresso-like flavour. Cream brought out the dark chocolate notes. Thankyou Josh for the sample.
** Gingerbread - weak and watery at 7 oz. Thin mouth feel with very little coffee tasted. Spices of cloves predominate with a hint of ginger as the coffee cooled. Requires a smaller amount of water but then the spices would be too overwhelming. Would not buy this one again.
* Heifer Hope Blend - light roast coffee that was ordered by mistake. This one is too weak and watery at the 7 oz size but slight improvement at the 5 oz. Will not order again.
** Holiday Blend - very weak and thin at 7.25 oz. Develops alot more flavour as it cools. Notes of spice and chocolate detected. Would be better at the smallest cup size.
*** Kenya AA EB - solid medium roast, fruity in taste with slight sourness, like lemons, as it cooled. Would buy on occasion.
** Lake & Lodge - dark coffee but unremarkable in flavour. Prefer other dark roasts.
*** Pumpkin Spice FT Limited Edition - rather weak medium roast but he odour of this one brewing more than made up for it. Spice taste in the cup overwhelmed the pumpkin taste. Not as good as VH's version but still decent. Thankyou you Josh for this sample.
**** Sumatran Reserve EB FTO - spicy, rich and heavy with dark chocolate notes as it cooled. Outstanding cup. Thankyou Josh for this sample.
Newman's Organics
*** Special Blend OFT - nice, smooth with slight bitterness at the finish. Could detect dark chocolate notes. Not as outstanding as when I first sampled but still a solid.
Timothy's
** Breakfast Blend - nice smooth blend. I rotate this with two others as my morning cup.
update: Lowered the rating to two stars. Much better out there after having tried more coffees.
* Camarel Vanilla Nut - this is a terrible, foul tasting coffee. Vanilla and caramel flavour not very distinct. The marzipan like taste (almonds) overwhelms everthing. Yuck.
*** Columbian De-caf - will order on occasion. Nice, pleasant taste.
** Columbian Dorado FT - mediocre coffee, muddy in taste with a unindentifable flavour. Other Columbian's much better than this.
**** Columbian La Vereda - this is probably one of my favourites of the med. roasts. Just a nice smooth cup a coffee.
**** Emeril's Big, Easy Bold - In the top five of what I've tried so far. Others have complained of a burning rubber-like smell when this brews and while I have noticed that slightly, I think it must be the smokiness of the roast that people are noticing. This is one fine cup of coffee, one I drink frequently.
*** Emeril's French Quarter Roast - decent cup of coffee, not as good as other French Roasts but adequate. Nice and smooth with just a bit of a bite at the finish. Would order on occasion.
*** French Roast - char notes detected initially. Smoothed out and became slightly sweet with cream added. Close to a four star for me.
*** Kona Blend - another delicious blend. When purchasing, I'll probably alternate with the breadfast blend.
** Italian Blend - just didn't do anything for me.
*** Mexican organic - nice and smooth a spicy. Had a hint of chili pepper but it could have been my imagination. Slight char notes noted at the finish. Would buy this on occasion.
**** Midnight Magic Extra Bold - another favourite of mine. This is one rich cup of coffee with no bitterness.
** Morning Blend - indistinct and bland for my tastes. Too light for me. Would not buy a box of this.
** Nicaraguan FTO EB - medium roast coffee woody in taste. There was a sharpness to this coffee that I didn't care for. Slight sweetness detected in the aftertaste.
*** Parisian Nights Extra Bold - nice, dark smokey cup, rich and smooth. Lacks the character of other French Roasts but still a good cup enjoyed with cream in the morning.
*** Private Blend - medium/light roast with a nice sweet fruity flavour. The acidity does develop as you finishing drinking the cup. Still would be nice as an occasional cup.
*** Rainforest Expresso EB - not as much of a wow factor as expected. Slight char notes detected. Not sweet as the website advertises. Would not buy a box of this one since there is much better out there.
** San Lorenzo Dark - typical dark roast reminding me somewhat of Lake and Lodge. Would not buy a box of this because there is much better out there.
*** Spanish Sol - nice and spicy but not suited for everyday. Would probably not buy a box of this flavour.
** Sugar Bush Maple - smell wonderful when brewing. First few sips were good but cream masked the flavour somewhat. Better to drink black. As the coffee cooled, developed a sickening sweet aftertaste that just hung on and on.
** Sumatran Gold - woody in taste. Not as good as other Sumatrans. Would not buy a box of this. Cream did nothing with the taste. Disappointed.
Tully's
**** French Roast - smoky, rich with a lingering bite at the end. Good black or with cream added. My favourite K-cup so far. Thankyou Josh for this sample.
** Italien Roast - char notes immediately with first couple of sips. Did smooth out with cream added. Better than Timothy's version but not by much. Thankyou Josh for this sample.
**** Madison Blend - outstanding rich medium roast with hint of chocolate and berries as it cools. This is one super cup of coffee and I wouldn't hesitate to buy a box of this in the future.
Van Houtte
** Amazonia FTO - odour good from the cup. This is a medium roast alittle on the light side for my taste. Started out mild and smooth and developed a sour aftertaste that was offputting. Would not buy a box of this.
** Candy Cane - strong peppermint odour when pouring into my cup. This is a medium roast and quite smooth with a strong sweet peppermint taste. The sweetness just gets stronger as the coffee cools.
** Chocolate Almond - very subtle. More pronounced as it cooled. Too light to really recommend though not artificial tasting as some.
**** Chocolate Raspberry Truffle - dessert in a cup. Rich and strong with raspberry flavour. Seems to overpower the chocolate taste but not in a bad way. Would definitely buy a box of this. Superb flavoured coffee.
*** Columbian (dark)- smooth earthy roast with no bitterness. Would have been a better coffee as a bold. Next time will use the smallest drop the this.
*** Columbian De-caf med. and De-caf dark. - here I prefer the darker roast and that's the one I would re-order again. Nice, smooth cup of coffee.
*** Costa Rica Tarrazu - smooth and mellow and quite good for a light roast. Suitable for first coffee of the day.
**** Creme Brulee - now this is a great cup of flavoured coffee. The aroma while it's pouring into my cup, is too die for. Will definitely order again.
** Creme Caramel FT - nice odour while brewing. Flavour too subtle. Aftertaste stronger but not enough for me to recommend this one. Creme Brulee much better.
**** Eclipse - strong coffee with a bitter aftertaste. I was quite upset about ordering a box after sampling the first cup, but this flavour has really grown on me so much so, I don't notice the bitterness anymore. This is one of my favourites, one I'll order frequently.
*** Ethiopia Limu - nice medium roast coffee slightly spicy with notes of citrus as it cooled. Would probably not buy a box of this. Nothing really distinctive.
** French Vanilla - though, I love this flavour somehow it doesn't translate that well into coffee.
*** Guatemala Antiqua - nice and smooth. My family really likes this one.
Will order on occasion
* Irish Cream - dislike this one. Leaves a taste in my mouth that I just don't care for.
** Kenya Kilimandjaro - Another flavour that needed time to grow on me.
Not sure if I would order this one again.
**** Midnight Express - another great dark roast from this company. Smooth going down and delicious. This one I'll probably always have on hand.
*** Napoletano - dark roast bordering on the char. Woody notes with pleasant aftertaste. Would buy a box of this on occasion.
** Pecan Praline - odour in the cup artificial smelling. Tasted better than it smelled but not by much. Not as bad as some of the other nut coffees I've tried. Would never buy a box of this.
*** Peru FTO - medium roast coffee that is quite smooth and mellow. Has slight woody taste at the finish. Would probably not buy a box of this.
*** Pink Ribbon - dedicated to breast cancer research, this is a medium roast coffee with slightly sweet overtones. It leaves a sweet aftertaste when finished drinking. Very smooth with no bitterness. Would probably buy on occasion.
**** Pumpkin Pie - medium roast coffee that is smooth and spicy. You could detect the spice tones immediately as it was pouring into my cup. Subtle pumpkin notes with a predominate taste of cloves present. I would definitely buy a box of this again.
*** Spiced Mayan Chocolate - as it brews, cinnamon will fill the room. When I first tried it, the cinnamon taste was just too overwhelming. I then tried it at the 9.25 drop and it was much better. I now drink it at the 7.25 drop but it did take some getting use to. This one is jammed packed with flavour but I'll probably only order it on occasion.
*** Winter Blend - solid medium roast coffee, woody in taste with slight spice notes. Thankyou Josh for this sample.
** Green Tea with Pomegranate - nice flavour but too weak.
**** Mint Medley Tea - this one has sufficient strength for me and I would probably order it again.
* Green Tea - very weak.
Other than Mint Medley, I won't be bothering with any teas. _________________ Keurig B66

Thanks for the recommendation. Other than that initial first cup in the morning, I finding the dark extra bolds more to my liking. I have a Green Mountain bold samplier box on order. Hopefully I'll receive it today. I'm anxious to try the Double Black Diamond. _________________ Keurig B66

Thanks for posting your reviews! I recently tried the GM Double Black Diamond and liked it. It's a very smooth, straightforward dark roast. Hopefully you'll add reviews of more coffees in the future as you sample around. _________________ Grindmaster OPOD, Keurig B40, Nespresso D90, Clever Coffee Dripper + Hario Skerton mill

Its really a great review. I just love to read review. I would like to suggest you that you should use reusable K cup instead of others. I always use it and think that it is best.

No, I like the convenience of buying the K-cups. No fuss or mess. But on that note, I had a few busted pods from an order that I placed and I was able to use the coffee grounds in My K-cup. I got a much weaker cup but I still was able to use them. _________________ Keurig B66

** Diedrich Paradiso House
Middle of the road dark roast that had an unpleasant bite at the end. Started drinking this black but added cream to finish. Was flirting between 1 and 2 stars but with the cream smoothing it out, decided on 2. Thankyou Josh for this K-cup sample. _________________ Keurig B66

*** Green Mountain Dark Magic Extra Bold.
This one almost borders on a 4 star for me. Even though I like the GMR Double Black Diamond better, this is a good one. This is a smooth, strong coffee with just a hint of bitterness at the end. Has expresso like taste and I detected a hint of dark chocolate when I added cream. This is definitely going in my rotation. Thankyou Josh for this wonderful sample. _________________ Keurig B66

** Tully's Italien Roast
Thankyou Josh for this sample. Char notes tasted immediately with first couple of sips. Adding cream smoothed out the flavour somewhat. Wish I had added less water because a bit on the weak side. Better than Timothy's Italien but not by much. _________________ Keurig B66

**** Gloria Jean's Black Gold
Wow this is a good cup of coffee. Nice strong flavour with the initial couple of sips. Smoky but surprisingly smooth and adding cream didn't change the character of the coffee much. Wish it was easy to pick this up in Canada. Thankyou Josh for this wonderful K-cup. Outstanding. _________________ Keurig B66

Glad you liked it! It's one of the few varieties I've bought a box of. _________________ Grindmaster OPOD, Keurig B40, Nespresso D90, Clever Coffee Dripper + Hario Skerton mill

Yeah, I've kind of cooled a bit on the K-cups since I bought my pod brewer. I guess the novelty hasn't worn off yet. There are certain K-cups that I love and Black Gold can be added to my list.
I needed to buy a birthday present for my sister and decided on a rice cooker at Tweed & Hickory. You can buy an assortment of K-cups in 5, 10, 25 etc. They carry Van Houtte and Timothy's, so I thought this was a good way to try different flavours without having to buy a whole box. I have 50 K-cups coming of about 30 different varieties so it will be nice that I'll be able to widen my selection as far as K-cups go. _________________ Keurig B66

*** Caribou Caribou blend
Pleasant medium roast with rich smooth taste. Could detect a slight taste of chocolate while drinking. Slight bitterness at the end but not enough to be unpleasant. A good morning cup. Thankyou Josh for this sample. _________________ Keurig B66

**** Tully's French Roast
Wow, this is everything you think a French Roast should be. Rich, smoky with a pleasant lingering bite at the end. I drank half of this black and then added a splash of cream at the end. The cream didn't take away from the richness of the coffee. Thankyou Josh for this wonderful K-cup. This is probably my favourite as far as K-cups go. Outstanding. _________________ Keurig B66
