Is this more than they sometimes have the GPOD or OPOD for? I've never seen anything at my local TM other than the Melitta pod machine.

I think that it is the same as they offered OPOD for.

I've looked at WS in my area. No luck. Oddly enough though, I was at the WS outlet store in San Marcos Texas, and they had them at the regular price.

Give the TM machines time before buying. They dropped prices on their OPODs several times and from what I hear the stores even now still have them (more than a year after they fist started offering them).

I got my first OPOD for $99, which had been dropped from $119. There were two others in the store that stayed for a long time. One day there was only one left, and it was marked at $79. It now resides in my closet as a back-up. If they don't all sell, you can count on the price dropping at TM. My question is what is the warranty arrangement, and whether it's the same as the OPOD (i.e. you must deal with TM if there are any issues). I've had no problems whatsoever with my OPOD, but having a manufacturer's warranty would be a positive....

Well careful.. are they going to honor that warranty? With the OPOD's there was some problems with that and TM as I recall.

Yes, a very important point is being brought up regarding warranties. It could be a new in the box item, but if the manufacturer's date for the item is let's say 2005/2006/ or even 2007, you most likely will not have the manufacturer's warranty. Even though the item is new, it technically is past the warranty coverage time frame. Having coverage is something you cannot assume and it would be a good idea to call the manufacturer with the date and serial # of the machine to see if it's covered. I've been through this trying to purchase an OPOD, so best to call and find out.
I couldn't find in the SSC review the answers to some questions I had regarding a couple of features on the Cuisinart SS-1. Does anyone know what temperature the water is kept at in the boiler? Brewing temps? What material is the boiler made of?
