|
|
After a week or so of putting sweaner's invention, THE PODSTER to the test...here is my review:
THE PODSTER arrived, right along with a new pod order. Sweaner's new contraption enables you to use a coffee pod in a My K-cup device. (any Keurig machine) This allows your KEURIG machine able to use pods as well as ground coffee (using the My K-cup) or K-cups. How's that for versatility!
A cool design, yet so simple. My first test was using a fresh CafeJo Columbian Gold. Basically, you wad up a coffee pod and insert it in the My K-cup...and put on the lid. You then put the stylet into the brass tube and insert it in the lid hole piercing the pod. You pull out the stylet, but leave the tube in. The stylet hangs by a rubber band on the outside of the brewing compartment.
The first cup looked nice and dark while brewing. Upon tasting...it was medium in body, and smooth in taste. Honestly, I didn't care for the coffee I selected. Upon opening the lid, I found a few grounds in the filter screen...but not many.
Second cup was a Black Gold Costa Rican pod. Unit worked much the same...extracting perfectly. The body suprised me...as I haven't had any pods in awhile. It was full, aromatic and smooth. This used to be one of my favorite pods. My tastes have changed. It was not as good as I had anticipated. (shoulda bought the Kona!)
I couldn't believe THE PODSTER could make that much of a difference...so I tried it myself. I attempted to brew a pod without using the stylet/tube inserted. No hole in the pod at all. The result was a nice hot cup of water.
Does THE PODSTER work?
Yes, it does! And very well, I might add.
I just need to find a pod I like. (I'm K-cup spoiled!)
Sweaner...you got a winner here!
Nice job.
NOTE: FYI to those who may not know: 'sweaner' is a forum member who has invented this handy device.
He sells an improved version...contact him for questions. _________________ Pete (Jolly) -

What are the differences from the earlier model? Mine works beautifully, though no rubber band. (All the little parts have their own small dish that sits very near my B50.)
Good review! It surprised me, too, at how well it works. _________________ I prefer light to medium roasts and drink most of my coffee black.

This will give you an excuse to try the new pods both Jim & David are about to release
This sounds like a very nice k-cuper accessory _________________ Life is too short to drink cheap coffee... reward yourself, you deserve it.

There is no functional difference from the earlier one. The tube and stylet are the same, I just joined them with a rubber band for convenience. And less chance of losing the parts.
You can see it on the eBay listing. _________________ Scott

Thanks, Scott. Btw, I love the 'other' name - PodSlayer. It seems so perfect given the Stylet's shape.
I'm not sure if I ever mentioned it, but the pics and instructions that you sent with it were great! Made it very easy to understand. Thanks for taking the time on that. _________________ I prefer light to medium roasts and drink most of my coffee black.
