Ok so now I have a week long camping trip coming up and after the review I want a preva sport. My old camping routine was french press and that is still great coffee (my fav actually). But for camping it can be a hassle. My cold concentrate from the Toddy is my plan for this year.. But lets face it there is no WOW factor there. I am after all the 'gadget' guy of the camping clique. I had also considered an aeropress for camping, but then I've still got the beans and the grinding to consider.. Oh man my wife is gonna...
Ok this just struck me as funny.. I'm picturing the way the preva pumps up and its like the little water rockets when you are a kid right... More pumps = more pressure until BOOM and then off it shoots. All this coffee stuff I think is doing this to my wife's head and I just know that too many more pumps and she is gonna explode on me.. not going to be pretty I tell ya.
But I still want it. _________________ Hi, Im Mike and I have an addiction...
i have tried them all and ended up with:
Nespresso Romeo E350,
Grindmaster OPOD, Toddy Cold Press, Krups kp1010
and now home roasting with HG/BM method

I have no idea what a Preva is and I don't wanna know, but as one who used to camp, and used to make campfire coffee or real espresso over a campfire, I say get it, Life is Short!
Anything that enhances your coffee-drinking experience on a camping trip is worth whatever it costs.
Maybe if you hide it from your wife you can pretend it's some old gadget you'd had in the closet for years . . . 'what, you've never seen this before?' I forgot I even had it! Here, let me show you some good cofffee .. .
that approach.
On the other hand, having a partner shouldn't mean you can't indulge yourself in the little things you like. What do we work our lives away for anyway?
But then, well, I don't know much about that stuff. . . _________________ Cafe My Bunn! ~~ Keurig B40 ~~ KitchenAid Compact 4-Cup Coffeemaker ~~ Keurig B30 |

actually, I love drinking coffee percolated in our old camp coffee maker over the old camp stove. It's strong and it's harsh and you don't want the last cup or you'll be chewing grounds, but it's good..
it's probably just nostalgia from all of the hunting trips with my dad, but you can't camp without spitting coffee grounds. _________________ own:

I grew up with that kinda coffee made right on top the stove. We boiled it in the pot without even having a percolator part in it. I'd put in a buncha evaporated milk and 3 scoops of sugar and it was just like coffee candy.
I didn't mind chewing on a few coffee grounds. Coffee on the boat was made the same way as coffee at home, it was all campfire coffee.
So are you gonna get your Prevo? _________________ Cafe My Bunn! ~~ Keurig B40 ~~ KitchenAid Compact 4-Cup Coffeemaker ~~ Keurig B30 |

OK, so I bought it.. The mfg. (preva) had placed 2 of them on Ebay. I was the only bidder at $35 plus 7 USPS Priority mail. Big savings over their website. I really believe my wife secretly likes that I buy so many gadgets.. time will tell.
Really for 40 bucks how could I not? I have a image to uphold with the camping group, I am THE Gaget guy.
The group will also get to taste boiled peanuts for the first time. As I am from the south, I know all about boiled peanuts and noone in my circle up here has had them. So I am ordering 10lbs of peanuts tomorrow so that I can make them next week at the campsite. _________________ Hi, Im Mike and I have an addiction...

The funny part of that is that about 9 months ago my wife signed up for some single serve samples, she didn't really know what it was. This was when I was just getting into my single serve lifestyle. When the package came is was 30 little tubes, each with a single serving of tasters choice instant. I'm gonna bring them camping and give them to anyone who gives me a hard time about my coffee 'problem' as some call it. _________________ Hi, Im Mike and I have an addiction...

Bucfanmike, are you sure you don't want to send those Taster's Choice samples to Eric? I could give you his address... tee hee. tee hee.
Personally, I think he's run out of Magnetic opium and it's affected his mood. Perhaps we should tell David to let him have a little more.
Seriously, let me know how the Preva is -- saw one at REI and was tempted but held off, at least for the moment.
And have a great trip. I just got back from Wyoming myself (took the french press -- worked great)
