Keurig B30 Pump Runs for over a minute after coffee done

Postby JustLeft » Wed Dec 10, 2008 12:00 am

Picked up a couple B30's, one for myself and the other for a gift. Have made 6 cups of coffee with it and noticed one thing that I haven't seen mentioned - the pump runs for over a minute after it has stopped making coffee. I called Keurig and they said it should not ever run for more than a minute after the coffee is done. I called after 5:30pm and their technicians were gone for the day, so no telling whether the answer was right.

I wait until there is no longer any coffee dripping into the cup and no steam is being emitted (coffee maker not spitting). The pump, while quiet, admits a whirring sound. This will continue for anywhere from 1 minute and 10 seconds to 1 minute 20 seconds after all other activity has ended. Is this normal? Is anyone else experiencing this with their B30?

I am going to call Keurig tomorrow, but thought I would solicit other opinions here.

I noticed the same thing. I think it is because the sensors detect that the cup is removed and then shut off the pump. My concern is that the pump will burn itself out because it is run with no water.

I think it's normal. My B130 does the same thing. I just let it run it's course and it's been fine for over a year of use. I think it just purges the unit of all water.
