Anyone ever seen this contraption before? I'm a bit skeptcal and wondering if it really makes a difference. Looks like a Sweaner-ish creation, but this one isn't about brewing pods in your Keurig or simply reusing your K-Cups. The idea behind this gadget appears to be redirection of the water flow to improve the extraction from your K-Cups.
Here's their sales pitch from eBay:
This lid allows you to fill your used K-cup with your favorite grind and then inject it with water during the brewing process.
WHY WOULD YOU NEED TO INJECT YOUR COFFEE??
The normal brewing process and the reusable caps you find here on eBay all shoot coffee straight down the center of the coffee during the brewing process. All this really does is bore a hole down the center bypassing most of the coffee. This is not the fault of the brewer or the other caps sold here, its simply a unfortunate over site that has now been solved.
THIS INJECTOR SHOOTS THE HOT WATER IN 5 DIFFERENT DIRECTIONS DURING THE BREWING PROCESS!!!!
Simple to use: Just tear off the foil from a used K-cup and empty the grounds. Then fill with your favorite grind and place this lid on before brewing.
Reuse the K-cup multiple times making each cup cost pennies instead of half dollars or more!!!
YOU HAVE GOT TO GET YOURSELF ONE OF THESE LIDS!!!!!!
Have a Look at the pictures:

I would say that this is a lot of marketing without much difference. All the grounds get wet when you brew a K-Cup, they can't help but get soaked. I don't know why anyone would really want to reuse a K-Cup anyway, it takes away all convenience, for me. If you want to use your own coffee, do a My K-Cup, or do a Podster with a T-Sac Pod.
When I first got my (first) My K-Kup, in trying to get a strong cup of coffee out of the deal, which is what I expected to get for my money, I filled the cup too full and the water injected right through like boring a little nail-hole through the center of the cup --- leaving all the coffee around it dry.
Of course the low functionality of the My-K-Cup has been solved for me (er -- mostly by using an OPOD instead )
This is a very good half-baked idea, in my book.
Why not take it just one step further and rip the lid of an unused K- Cup and get better extraction from that?
The good single-serve coffee extraction problem has many, many better solutions than this, but if all you had was a Keurig and no My K-Cup, well, it's worth something if not much.
EDIT: What are they charging for this gizmo? _________________ Cafe My Bunn! ~~ Keurig B40 ~~ KitchenAid Compact 4-Cup Coffeemaker ~~ Keurig B30

if I WAS going to buy one of these (and there's no way in heck I would) I definitely wouldn't buy it to reuse kcups; i'd just use it on new ones......... However, I think doing a pre-wet cycle does the same thing (soaks the grounds) and thus this thing is pointless....... isn't that what the new Keurig needle does anyways? Disperse water in several directions? _________________ Proud Owner:

Actually, there may be something to this contraption. It isn't just about getting the grounds wet- it is when and how the grounds get wet. _________________ K-cup reviews Pod reviews

Q: Great idea! Does it roperly fit the "my K-cup" permanent filter, or only the disposables? Thx. Larry Ropeik Mar-06-08
A: YES!!! And, just added a spreading feature (not shown in picture) that extracts even better. My test cup actually was too strong with the same amount...more

Now, if that were the case, it might be an interesting addition to someone's arsenal, assuming, of course, you don't have the new and improved B-70 needle already.
(But, not for an extra $20!)
And no, not for me . . . . I got plenty of gizmos to keep my happy now

I wonder, could you drill a hole or 2 in the needle to have the same effect, and work with everything? _________________ Vincent
