Coming in April:

Anyone recognize the grinder style? It doesn't look familiar to me, but I guess I'm a little skeptical that they started from scratch with the design.

Looks innovative and new - almost as innovative as my current flavored coffee bean grinder...

Thanks, Eric--figured you might have something to say about this! So in terms of static and grind (in)consistency, is this a step up at all from a blade grinder?

It suffers from the same problems most fake burr grinders have - grind sizes ranging from dust to normal grounds with every size in between well represented - a sifter's dream...

Here is a photo of the burrs from Ineed coffee.com:

And here is a photo of my personal gem:

Looks like Solofill designed the bin differently so it can hold their capsule, but little if anything else looks different.

It would be so easy for them to drop in a set of 43mm sharp burrs for an extra $20 - $30 to create something that would really work. I found an old DeLonghi DCB-3 that looks similar, but it uses the same burrs as the old Estro 480 or Saeco 2002 flat burr grinder. These burrs are not Mazzer quality but are sharp and cut rather than crush. The grind is surprisingly consistent even though the flavor is muted compared to my Kitchenaid Proline with Mazzer Mini burrs or my Mahlkonig K30. I would pay up to $100 for a grinder like this new based on the grind quality even though it is noisy and forces me to control the static.

Hi. I just purchased this grinder and have tried 4 times to make coffee and have failed. I have followed the directions on the guide given and when I put the solofill cup into the keurig machine, it comes out extremely weak and you can almost see through the coffee. I must be doing something wrong as I have yet to make a decent cup of coffee using a do-it-yourself cup (even before purchasing this grinder). Does anyone have any advice or let me know how you set up your settings? I do like a stronger brew, but even changing the coarseness and amount of grounds + water, I still have a poor tasting cup. Thank you for any help!

Welcome. Maybe try asking a shop with a better grinder to grind some coffee for you and see if that works out better? Also, have you ruled out the beans themselves being part of the problem?

I was able to get good cups with the Solofil, but always at the smallest cup size. Grind as fine as possible.

Yes, I've used the ekobrew in it. The lid just doesn't bend back as far, but you can get it in there.
