Why hello again

Postby mattsense » Wed Dec 12, 2012 8:02 pm

Been quite some time, and I miss my Fratello pods, just been using my Keurig for quite some time as I had a lot of gift cards and k-cup gifts. But I did just get The Scoop sold to me for $25 NIB from a coworker. Looking forward to trying it and letting you all know what I think

Welcome home. Pull up a stump and set a spell again.

Matt! Cool. I just "scooped" some coffee into the Bunn MC's new ground coffee drawer, speaking of. Yup, feel free to update the Scoop thread once you've had a chance to play with your new toy.

This drawer is for newer models of the Bunn or compatible with my model also?

So far, The Scoop sucks, brewed some Starbucks House into it, coffee was weak and not that hot, I will play around but this mornings coffee was terrible. Luckily I did not pay for this thing, I will continue to play a bit, but if it is a no go, I will use the rest of my starbucks in my CCD

Matt, did you use the "bold" setting?

I did, and like a lot of online reviews said, the first bit of water and the last bit are clear water. I will try damping the coffee a bit, but to hard and it will likely overflow. I will still play around, and I was caffeinated enough this morning, but it was weak. I used max coffee and about 12oz water.

Aha. How many grams is "max" coffee? Can't remember whether or not you have a scale.

No scale, but Maximum is about 3 Tbsp of ground coffee. There seems to be some tips out there for letting the grinds soak for a second, but this takes away from convenience. I will try damping the grounds down a bit soon and will report back, but for tomorrow mornings work coffee I am using the Keurig methinks.

Tried a few more times with some Folgers decaf (practice coffee :) ) And still no go, I took out my $20 Mr Coffee 4 cupper this morning and brewed up the Starbucks I had, and it still makes a better cup of coffee than The Scoop. At this rate I may just sell this thing for the price of S&H.
