As some of you may remember I asked about using the my k cup in a keurig brewer to make loose leaf tea. One user said it worked great for some teas but not others, and then noticed that grinding the teas made it work much better.
Since I'm looking for a single serve machine for loose leaf tea only, and the Keurig B70 is my #1 choice assuming it can make tea, I decided to order only a my k cup adapter and try making tea by just letting hot water pour through to simulate what the machine does.
I tried it with a few types of tea, it works great with almost all teas as is, some come out weaker, but grinding those finer solves the issue. I was able to make several cups of different types of tea simply filling the my k cup filtet about half way and letting the hot water from my hot/cold water dispenser pour into the filter and into a cup.
This confirms the Keurigs can make loose leaf tea using the my k cup adapter, many teas come out fine as is, others need to be ground finer first to make the extraction stronger, but it does work very well.
I'll be ordering the K70 in a few weeks for 100% sure now that I know it does a great job using the my k cup and loose leaf tea.
If anyone else is looking for a loose leaf tea brewer I'd highly recommend this approach. Of course I'll only have an "official" answer once I actually have the machine, but my test is almost identical to what goes on in the brewer, so the results should be about the same.
Thanks for those who helped answer my questions about making loose leaf tea in the my k cup.
