Ok, did a lot of internet searching about the K-fee aka Expressi. I found more than one european forum mentioning Caffitaly capsules can be used in the K-fee and the Expressi. http://www.flickr.com/photos/70750329@N ... 151656581/
There are several drinks using the Expressi that are different kinds of Caffitaly capsules. If this is true, then my CBTL/Caffitaly will score even more inventory. Now if the K-fee lays the foundation of the future Versimo, than those with a CBTL will be even happier.

I should have also added the person doing the flicker setup, shows the comparison between the K-fee and the Map Caffitaly capsule. Same diameter and height. The Map coffee machine is what we call the Kaldi here. I found a forum person speaking about using the Map caffitaly capsule and just kept reading forum after forum of posters using caffitaly capsules in their Expressi and also posters using caffitaly capsules in their K-fee.

Bekka, would you mind posting some of those forum links you mentioned? The flickr photo set is interesting, but I'd want more info. to confirm. Thanks!

Most of the links I got stemmed from comments in the Whirlpool forum that djbass is part of. And he just joined us in the Caffitaly thread to explain why the capsules for the K-fee won't work in our CBTL. I am bummed about that. Not the first time my hopes were dashed LOL ; )

OK here's the first review I have found so far for the Verismo: http://www.musingsofahousewife.com/2012/08/starbucks-verismo-review.html

It's going to come out in October and retail for $199. There's a larger model that is suppose to sell for $399 (no pics but some of it's features are that it can hold 30 used capsules compared to 10 for the smaller model and it comes with a filter - gee for $200 more what a bargain  ). I don't see any external differences between the Verismo and the Aldi Expressi machine except the colors offered (looks like the Verismo will be offered in at least two colors: silver & red). No mention on how hot it brews but the Aldi Expressi got bad reviews when it came to brew temp (it was way too cold). The reviewer said the milk capsules were very good and that there was no chemical taste as she had experienced with the Tassimo. She says the milk capsules use 2% milk although no mention as to if the capsules were liquid or powder, I am assuming it's powder. Looks interesting but I am not going to rush out to Williams-Sonoma to buy one, I want to see the Keurig Rivo first and see how it compares to the Verismo and Nespresso.

Thanks for the find!

Re: the machine, here are some updated links for comparison. Still look the same to me--at first glance, that is.

K-fee: http://www.k-fee-system.com/machine/
Aldi Expressi: http://www.expressi.com.au/

Will be interesting to see what happens when this comes out, as there will be quite a glut of similar machines competing for people's business, e.g. Tassimo, DG, CBTL, Keurig's Rivo, Nespresso, etc. Makes sense because espresso is way more of a hassle (not to mention expense) to do well "slow," meaning without capsules. But you know a little something about that, Mr. Peas, right?!

Thanks for sharing. I got all excited -- and then I read the very uninformative review. The writer doesn't seem to know much about espresso makers. She's impressed by the removable water tank and the used-capsule container. Nothing new there. "Most espresso machines start at $499 and go up into the thousands," she says, making the Starbucks Verismo "a steal." Well, the CBTL machines sell for well under the $199 Verismo price. I could go on...

I'm actually thinking it was not powder but liquid milk? 2%? Was it powder? The german company who makes the milk does a ton of powdered stuff - anyone have a lock on that?

Yeah her "review" was not much of one really. I bet she would fawn over anything that had the Starbucks name attached to it. I just thought it would be good to post it as I have not seen any reviews anywhere else and also we finally get to find out how much it will cost. The larger machine she mentioned was unexpected as I had not heard anything about there being more than one type of Verismo machine. Doing some research I found what I think is a pic of that larger model taken from a Singapore K-Fee machine launch:

Oh just some pics I found using Google Image search - there was a BlogHer 2012 convention in NYC for female bloggers (why was I not invited???? ) and some of the bloggers posted info and pics on the Verismo.

I did find out that the milk capsules are powdered (just like the ones Kruger uses for the K-Fee):
