OMG, this is the first OPOD in a *long* time that's listed with the gen. info.! Of course, they're describing it as a Bunn machine, too, but you can't win 'em all...

Mine is a gen. 2 and has that same crack (pretty common).

And in my home town too - I sent a message asking about local pick up just for giggles.

Nice! Shoot, if I'd noticed the seller's location I wouldn't have posted the link publicly. No bidding wars among friends, please!

I don't know if you can hang with me Vydor - I have been known to bid and spend almost $31 on a used OPOD in decent shape...

Thrifty is as thrifty does...

Seriously though, I haven't bid on this one but it would be nice to know if someone here is going for it - I see one bid so far.

TheCoffeeArtisan wrote:The abbreviated history of the OPOD:

GEN I: No Fan on the back, Blue Pod Tray Latch, Mfg. Date Early 2005 and prior
GEN II: Fan on the back, Blue Pod Tray Latch, Mfg. Date Late 2005
GEN III: Fan on the back, Black Pod Tray Latch, Mfg. Date 2006
GEN IV: Fan on the back, Blue Pod Tray Latch, Mfg. Date late 2007

The fan was the main change from GEN I to GEN II. Overheating of internal components forced the fan addition. Gen II to Gen III saw the introduction of the Black pod tray latch and some upgrades to the internal plumbing to eliminate issues with short drops when using certain (thicker) pods. Gen III to Gen IV only change was a switch back to the blue latch. New units also are shipping with the incusion of a Gourmet Pod Tray.

Were there no changes at all from 2007 on? I ask because (a) my curiosity was piqued earlier this year when a member bought an OPOD directly from Grindmaster with a date of manufacture of "33 2011," and (b) there might be one new in box with that same date of manufacture in my basement right now. 8)

The member that bought the one dated 33 2011 is the only evidence I have ever heard of a newer unit than those produced in late 2007. When Grindmaster lost their Chinese manufacturing partner they told me they were looking for a new one, but that never seemed to materialize. Now that they've essentially walked away from Pod brewing, it doesn't make any sense that they found a new manufacturing partner, just to produce a few units that they aren't actively selling. I haven't talked to my rep in a while, so I'll have to call them and find out what's going on. There would be a lot of happy folks if Grindmaster started selling these again.

By the way Josh, how did this mystery machine end up in your basement?

Right, I remember you saying Grindmaster had cut ties with the manufacturer. Looks like that was back in March of last year (or earlier), certainly before week 33. The plot thickens.

I'll explain soon. Will take some pics and post tonight. Don't want to totally unbox the thing because I haven't decided what I want to do with it yet.

Would be good news if these came back - is this a warranty replacement or a sales sample?
