I don't program PICs
I can do atmel though. might be a good arduino project.

on another note, from the pictures, my B70 is a little different. it has two return pipes to the reservoir. also the check valve in the output to the cup is an inline one instead of built into the elbow at the output.
the problem I'm having is Software i think. after the first brew after power on. the large travel mug is the only cup symbol turned on on the display. I can lift and lower the kcup bar and the display stays the same. only large cup illuminated and it says ready to brew. if I hit brew. it simply clicks and no water comes out. Unplug the machine and that same cycle repeats. the first cup comes through so i know the pumps work.
it might be a good platform to hack...

I found better designed and food grade solenoids. I'll try them in my keurig and if they work I'll offer them for sale.

i mentioned that my machine looks a little different. I just got a replacement and it has the same differences. I traced the piping and it is basically the same. the difference is that there is a custom output return pipe to the reservoir that has two outputs. this basically eliminates the need for one of the T connectors inside the unit.

Joust,

Great picture. What approximate date was that B70 manufactured and/or purchased?

If you get a chance, could you post a picture directly from the left side so that all the tubing is visible? Thanks!

My initial impression is that having two overflow tubes to the Water Reservoir provides for independent safety relief paths for the Water Pump and the Air Pump, which is a good thing.

With the shared overflow path on my December 2009 vintage B70, the water and air paths intermingle making it possible for water to get into the Air Pump through its output hose, causing it to rust out and fail.

Thanks for the detailed instructions for dissasembly of the keurig B70 Coffee maker. You mention replacing the two valves inside the coffee maker; where do you acquire these valves?

eBay has them from time to time. I just finished selling out everything from my parts machine, so you're just a bit too late.

I look forward to tearing into my B70 thanks to this forum... I've got some days off coming and it will be a good project. Thanks to all of you for the amazing instructions in this forum... I think detail and help like this is really unique; you all should be proud.

I have to mention that I have a replacement machine on the way from Keurig. Yes, they put me through the little exercises with no cigar... basically they quizzed about de-scaling in the past, asked if I had run hot chocolate in it, and had me do the paper-clip thing. Anyway, they were very very friendly, and then offered me a replacement machine, while only requesting that I send in the cup holder. I am out of warranty, no receipt for date of purchase, and not registered. I was impressed.

I noticed that the replacement they are sending is a B7X... is that the same as the B70 with changes? They mentioned that it is a Platinum, that it has adjustable temp, and accepts a large travel mug, having an additional cup size. Any info on this?

Again, my thanks for all the awesome info here.... AWESOME.

Yeah, i just received mine. My invoice said the same thing, with the 7X, but it appears its just a regular 70. I thought it may have been a refurb, but then remembered that no one that i know had to send theirs back. It did come in just a plain box and not the retail box you see in the stores. I had the same series of questions and they even tried sent me a new k-cup holder thinking it was that, even though i knew what the problem was by looking on this site. Anyway now i can have that extra part to fill in for the one i had to send back.

The cup size has 5 sizes instead of the 4 in the select, as well as no longer having the iced beverage graphic. It seems the size span the gaps of the select, i.e. I think the select had a 10 oz cup and this has 9.25 & 10.25.

Like you, I'm looking forward to seeing if I can get the old one back in service it would be a great replacement for my mini I have at work.

^^^ Bosco and Dpc, welcome. When I got a warranty replacement for my B40 in Dec., it was labeled B45, but there was no difference between the two that I could discern. Did your replacement B7X machines come with samplers in the box, by chance?

Thanks, Josh. Dpc thanks for the info on the B7x... mine has NOT arrived as of yet, with today being Friday, and my call to Keurig was Monday or Tuesday of this week... I'll wait. I was told that the shipment would be the replacement machine ONLY with NO k-cups included. I'm southern Tennessee and it comes from Georgia FedEx, so maybe on the porch today... I hope.

Nope, no samplers. Even the invoice listing said something like "Platinum B7X w/ NO K- CUPS. " The only noticable physical difference between the select and platinum is the wider double relief toubing at the top of the reservoir area.

*I think* it's labeled B7X since they're giving out the same replacement model for both the B70 and the B77. The b70 and b77 brewers are identical, except for the nameplate on the bottom. The only difference is that the B77 comes with accessories in the retail box.

Right now, this is the best thread on any forum, anywhere on the whole internet!!

But does anyone know how this machine knows when the water is too low? I have a feeling it's something to do with that mysterious tube that goes into the back of the front panel. Perhaps this is a pressure switch? I haven't taken the front control panel off yet to take a peek. Just curious if anyone knows.
