Defective K-Cup or....

Postby sillyrabbitt » Fri Jan 11, 2008 10:05 pm

I brewed an Emeril Kcup and for some reason the coffee came out in a weird fast way and grinds got in the cup a little and it kept dripping after it was done brewing. I tried another one after that and it ran fine.

Can you get a dud k-cup or is it the Breville acting up?

thanks!

I suspect the filter in that Kcup was not fully sealed around the top. If this happens again (and it will), take apart the Kcup and you will see it.

Thanks for the info.

When you say take it apart you mean just pull the lid off? The lid wasnt fully sealed? Is that what you think?

thanks

had about 3 or 4 of the Emerils do that on me out of ~100 brewed so far; seems to be a slight QC issue with the gluing of the filter to the kcup........

Inside the K-Cup there is a paper filter. If that was not attached right you would get what you saw.

But not too often... for me... it was like once every few boxes...

As I was raving about the kcup and breville to my brother it started to miss fire. At first I was like what is going on. I thought the machine was messed.

All is well now in coffee land.

I have had one emerils big bold easy blow grounds in the cup out of 8 boxes now. The problem K-cup was in my very first box and I have not had a repeat.
I had a problem twice with emeril's where my B50 would start to pump water back into the water tank instead of the cup. Then on the next brew it would dump twice the water into the cup and overflow it.
Never found the needle clogged but that may have happened and then cleaned itself the next brew cycle.
That happened with my first two boxes of emeril's but I have not had that happen again.

That can be an issue with K-cups from time to time. I've had some like that too. (not Emeril) It's just a manufacturing glitch. Sometimes, the company will replace them if you complain.

(PS...if this happens, you may want to run a water cycle or you'll get grounds in the next cup too)

If I could have only one K-cup it would be Emeril's big bold easy without
a doubt. Wife and I both love dark Roast and emerils.

I have been seeing this a bunch, 2x so far in one box of Coffee People Bold Organic. The foil lid gets blown off, and makes a mess inside the machine.
Have checked and cleaned the needle each time, but no obvious clog.

Is it worth dropping CP a line?
