Can anyone tell me the difference (if any) between the Cuisinart SS-700 vs SS-780? They seem to look the same and Costco, Amazon, and others are now selling the SS-780. Is the 780 just the latest version of the SS-700 or is there something else I'm missing? I've had several Keurigs and thought I'd like to try the Cuisinart but would like clarification on the model numbers. Thank you...

I would think the SS-780 is a second-gen. version of the machine, but I don't know for sure. Hopefully someone who *does* will chime in soon. Looking to pick one up?

Actually, between the time I asked about the model numbers and now, my wife came home from Costco with a new SS-780. Everything is fine, it's amazingly quiet (quieter than the B-70) and so far, we're well pleased with it. It came with 3 - 18 packs of k-cups (Newman's Own, Tully's Kona Blend and GM Nantucket) all of which are quite acceptable to us. Also included is the water filter with 6 re-fills and a My K-Cup.

Regardless, if anyone knows about the difference between SS-700 and SS-780 (if any), I am still interested in knowing. Thank you...

I spoke to a Cuisinart rep last week who told me that the SS-780 was an item specifically bundled for sale in Costco stores. The machine is exactly the same as the SS-700, but the SS-780 also contains the extra coffee cups (I think 54 instead of the 12 that come with many of the SS-700s). The 780 also includes 6 of the Cuisinart brand water filters instead of the 2 (?) that come with the 700.

For those who are wanting to purchase the SS-780, Costco no longer lists the product online but I did find a local store that still has some in stock. FYI - you can call your local Costco and ask them to check for Item #528272. That info allows them to search the database for stores that may still have stock.

The item number you provided is correct and at $164.99 (price at our Costco - I guess the price is the same at all Costco's) , it seems to be quite a "bargain" especially with the extra K-cups and filters with a retail value about $40 for the 42 extra cups and 4 extra filters (above that which is packaged with the "regular" SS-700).

Our box has a small sticker on it indicating it was "Packed 9/2010". I'm hoping this means that the machine itself was produced AFTER the problems that arose with the Keurig B-70 pumps earlier in 2010. It was my understanding that at one point, all Cuisinart SS-700's had been pulled from BBB and elsewhere for problems but were then re-stocked after corrections were made.

The brewer gets used several times daily and at this point we continue to be very pleased with this purchase. With their warranty and the fact that Costco has a generous return policy, I'm not too worried.

An update for anyone who reads this string. I just called Costco and they are still carrying the SS-780 package for the same price, 164.99, at all three of my local stores.
